Start the day with sun salutations on the sunggai lawn. Slide into the 25-metre saltwater pool and swim up to the bar for a tropical smoothie. Soak up the sun on the double sunbeds then cool off under the water cascade. Linger over a leisurely butler-served lunch at the 4.4-metre dining table. Settle in front of the 80-inch TV for an air-conditioned afternoon with Netflix. Gather for sunset cocktails in the soaring living area linking the wings, then head to the sunken pool lounge for a seafood barbecue prepared by the accomplished villa chef.
The sleek lines, natural materials and neutral colour palette that flow through Villa Nica create a luxurious setting for social occasions both big and small, from laid-back celebrations for 14 to lavish weddings for 100. For extended families and groups of friends, this is the ultimate private escape — secluded yet within a short 10-minute drive of black sand beaches and the cool cafes and nightlife of Canggu.

Location
Villa Nica rests in an exclusive enclave of luxury residences in Pererenan, on Bali’s south-west coast. Beyond a small stream that edges the garden is an expanse of emerald rice fields unfurling to the horizon— a reminder that this quiet area retains its rural charm and moves to a traditional rhythm unchanged across generations. There are a number of local cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance, and a large Pepito supermarket. Just 3km away are endless beaches of black volcanic sands bordering some of the island's best surf breaks, while 8km further up the coast is the revered Tanah Lot sea temple. In sharp cultural contrast, hip happening Canggu with its restaurants and nightlife is merely 4km to the south.
More information for Things to doVilla Nica offers the best of all worlds, being in a quieter, less touristy part of south-west Bali yet close to Canggu and Seminyak. It is well positioned for myriad excursions and activities inland and towards the mountains in the north. The Villa Manager and his team will be happy to share insights and insider information on the best places to visit, while the Elite Concierge can arrange transport or make any bookings that you may require.
Here are some ideas to whet the appetite:
- Villa Nica is close to the sea temple at Tanah Lot— possibly the most photographed site in Bali. Although witnessing the sacred temple silhouetted against a fiery sunset sky is full of drama, it’s worth visiting in the quiet of the morning when you can appreciate its majesty and magic without the crowds.
- Make the most of Bali’s famed sunsets from the vantage point of Echo Beach, where you can settle with a beer in one of the many beachfront cafes, or wander the black sand beach as the sky darkens and the stars appear.
- Hike through the rice fields or cycle along small lanes to explore old villages in the area, cooling off at a local warung (cafe) with a fresh coconut.
- Pop into Tanteri Museum of Ceramic Arts and pick up some hand-painted pottery by Tanteri Ceramics, a family business supporting local artisans.
- Visit the 17th Century royal palaces at Kerambitan, admire their traditional Balinese architecture and if you are lucky with timing, catch a special dance performance or dinner.
- Drive north to the Tabanan Regency, the ‘rice bowl’ of Bali, where the renowned Jatiluwih rice terraces with their spectacular vistas justly deserve their UNESCO World Heritage status. Continue further north to explore the mountain town of Bedugul, its volcanic lakes, and Pura Ulun Danu, another revered Bali temple.
- Finns Recreation Club will be a draw for sporting guests drawn to its state-of-the-art gym, tennis and squash courts, basketball hall and myriad other facilities.
- For a different form of exercise that contributes to the island’s poorer communities, take a unique trekking tour to the once-forgotten villages of Munitgunung and enjoy breathtaking mountain vistas while supporting sustainable social change. Elite Havens is a proud partner of Muntigunung Community Social Enterprise.

Villa Nica’s accomplished professional chef is on hand to whip up meals from an imaginative menu covering Indonesian, Asian and international dishes, as well as vegetarian meals and children’s favourites— all served family-style. He is happy to receive special requests and tailor meals to meet special dietary needs and is a dab hand at sizzling seafood barbecues. It’s best to discuss your requirements the evening before or at breakfast, to give the kitchen team time to shop for the freshest ingredients.
The immense 4.4-metre merbau wood table dominating the dining room lends itself to convivial meals where conversation flows freely while butlers discreetly recharge your glass. Kickstart your day with a hearty breakfast and a soundscape of cascading water and birdsong. At night, close the doors, light the candles, and indulge in a gourmet multi-course dinner in air-conditioned comfort. In between, enjoy a smoothie or salad at the swim-up bar, and sunset cocktails in the sunken pool lounge.
Groceries and beverages are charged at cost price with a 20% handling fee which is subject to service and tax at the prevailing rate. Guests will be requested to provide grocery money in advance, and the staff will do the shopping and keep receipts for reference.
